SHREWSBURY, Mass. — The St. John's baseball team faces B.C. High Saturday at 6 p.m. at Polar Park for the Division I State Championship.

During their playoff run, the Pioneers have won two extra-innings games and another by one run.

Their close bond and belief in one another are a couple reasons why they believe they are in the state final.

"I feel like our brother-like bond on the team, everyone likes each other," said OF Andrew Schmit. "Everyone wants to be here at practice, just a special environment."

"I think at the beginning of the year we wouldn't have won some of those games," said OF Brayden Mercier, "I think we've grown as a team and as one unit rather than a bunch of individuals. We all have each other's backs no matter what the score is, what inning."

"It's definitely just about believing," said 3B Jack Forgues. "Everyone on this team wants to win, we all believe in each other and want to see each other succeed. Just everyone wanting to win and believing in each other is what has got us here."
