SHREWSBURY, Mass. — The St. John's baseball team is the #2 overall seed in the Division I state tournament.
The Pioneers' first game is Saturday. They play the winner of the Lexington vs Waltham game that will be played Friday night.
Kevin Shea went one-on-one with St. John's Coach Casey Cummins, talking about the state tournament, their road, their side of the bracket, playing at home, and what they know about either Lexington and Waltham.
"We were hoping to be one of the top four teams and lucky enough we were," said Cummins. "Not of a ton of information on them (Lexington and Waltham) other than looking at their schedules, common opponents, things like that. It's kind of the time in the season when you rest on your coaches and your friends in the coaching circle, calling, saying, 'hey, what do you have on this team?'"
St. John's plays at home Saturday at 3 p.m. against the winner of Lexington and Waltham.
