SHREWSBURY, Mass. - New body camera footage shows first responders working to save a Shrewsbury man's life.
Spectrum News 1 has followed Andy MacIsaac’s story. He collapsed on his kitchen floor and went into a sudden cardiac arrest in July 2023. Family members performed CPR until first responders arrived. They worked for half an hour to get his heart started again.
On Wednesday, the Worcester County District Attorney presented first responders with his office's Team Excellence And Merit Award for their actions.
"It's because of them” said DA Early. “We're honoring them. It's because of them and maybe a little help from God that Andy is alive today. Their quick actions and teamwork surely saved his life. If not for them, the outcome could have been tragically different. Thank god it wasn't."
Earlier this year, Spectrum News 1 introduced viewers to the doctors at UMass Memorial Medical Center who were able to repair MacIsaac’s heart through a surgery. He was discharged less than a week later.
