SHREWSBURY, Mass. — Former Shrewsbury High School hockey star Jack Quinlivan was teammates at UMaine for three years with Boston Bruins goalie Jeremy Swayman.
Through the first eight games of these playoffs, Swayman has a goals against average of 1.81 and a save percentage of .942 — both incredible numbers.
None of this comes as a surprise to Quinlivan, who says Swayman has always been so technically sound.
"Yeah with elite-level NHL goaltenders like that, even when I shot on Jeremy in practice in Maine, you don't see any of the net," said Quinlivan. “He's not a big, big guy, obviously he's 6'3" but he takes up so much of the net with how good his angles are and it's perfect every time. You rarely see him make a mistake, I think his positional foundation is partially what makes him so special, along with his athleticism."
