SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. — Sen. Elizabeth Warren was in Central Massachusetts Friday to discuss efforts to support people with disabilities.

The senator toured the Center of Hope Foundation in Southbridge.

It's a nonprofit providing services for people with disabilities.

They offer day programs, help adults find employment and help them live in their own apartments.

The program also offers camps for children.

Warren highlighted the more than $1 million in federal funding she helped secure for CHF.

“It’s going to help renovate this building and help them keep up the wonderful services they provide for people in our community,” said Warren.

“We need to upgrade all of our bathrooms, we need to upgrade our HVAC systems, we need to make sure that our building is safe and secure,” said CEO Cindy Howard. "We want to make sure that all our spaces are safe for people.”

The Center of Hope Foundation opened in 1956.

The CEO said it’s mostly funded through the department of developmental services.
