WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Regional Airport reports that it's been a busy month, boosted by April vacation travel.
Massachusetts had their school vacation last week and New Hampshire’s is this week.
Airport Director Andy Davis said about 25% of the cars in the parking lot right now are from New Hampshire, so it appears people from the Granite State are making the trip to Worcester to fly.
He said the JetBlue flights to Fort Lauderdale and the new seasonal service to Fort Myers brought in a lot of people for the first quarter of this year.
"First quarter of this year has been very robust at Worcester Regional Airport,” said Davis. “We are actually about 38% more passengers flying in the first quarter than this time last year. In fact, March, we had 60% more passengers flying. A lot of that is attributed to the JetBlue flight going to Fort Lauderdale with larger aircraft and our new seasonal service to Fort Myers."
The Fort Myers flight is scheduled to run again next season starting in November through spring break.
