WORCESTER, Mass. - Four seniors on the Holy Cross football team will use their extra COVID-19 year of eligibility to play at FBS schools after they graduate from Holy Cross this spring.
QB Matt Sluka will play at UNLV, OL Eric Schon will play at Duke, OL Luke Newman will play at Michigan State and CB Terrence Spence will play at JMU for former Holy Cross coach Bob Chesney.
Looking back at their four years on the hill, all of these guys say they are grateful.
"Obviously my experience here at Holy Cross was unbelievable," said Sluka. "Just given an opportunity by Coach Chesney early on, just a foundation for great success later on. Obviously having four championships. What a great team. Nothing else I can ask for, just great people, amazing coaches."
"It literally feels like five minutes ago I was a freshman who didn't even know where the library was on campus, said Schon. "You fast forward four years later and we have four-straight Patriot League championships. I was able to build relationships with some of my best friends. These guys will be at my wedding. And I think that's the most important part of this whole thing, the relationships we were able to build with each other.'
They all treasure their time at Holy Cross and on the Crusaders football team with everything they learned, how they grew and the friendships they made.
