UXBRIDGE, Mass. - Two weeks after an Uxbridge student suffered burns on his hands when a laptop began smoking during MCAS exams, new equipment has arrived in the school district.
Superintendent Mike Baldassarre says Acer, the laptop's maker, delivered 450 loaners to the Whitin Intermediate School.
A forensic investigator is still looking into the burned computer and the school had removed all models of Acer laptops after the incident.
The Department of Education granted the school an extension to complete the MCAS exams.
Baldassarre said they have until May 2 and a plan is in place to meet the deadline.
