WORCESTER, Mass. — An injury in spring training sidetracked Red Sox infielder Vaughn Grissom's start of the season and he's attempting to work his way back to the big club with a rehab stint in Worcester.

Grissom came to the Red Sox in the off-season as a part of the Chris Sale trade with the Atlanta Braves.

While with the Braves, Grissom appeared in 64 games over two seasons.

He hit five home runs in 2022.

Grissom is making the most of his rehab assignment in Worcester, he and manager Chad Tracy know this is an important time.

“For Vaughn it’s more like this is very much like his spring training,” said Tracy. “He got no at bats at all in games in spring training with the injuries that came up. Just accumulating repetitions and making sure that when it’s time to go they’re ready to go.”

“I feel really good” said Grissom. “This is my first time being at the stadium. Beautiful stadium. It seems like there’s going to be some great fans here. It’s super. I love this park. But I’ve been feeling really good and just can’t wait to get back out there.”

In 2022, Grissom made his major league debut as a member of the Atlanta Braves at Fenway Park.

His first hit in the majors was a homerun over the Green Monster.
