WORCESTER, Mass. - North High School basketball is getting their own museum exhibit commemorating a historic two-year run.

A jersey, a signed basketball and a 'Back to Back Champions' t-shirt are some of the items on display at the Worcester Historical Museum.

The Polar Bears won the state title last year, marking the first time a Worcester Public School earned the Division 1 title. Their victory this year made them the first boys basketball team in Central Massachusetts to win the state title two years in a row.

“Just because it happened two weeks ago, doesn't mean it's not historical and it's not important” exhibits coordinator, Vanessa Bumpus, said. “I think what these students did, they were telling me, it's unheard of to win back-to-back championships, so that's history right there. Their story deserves to be preserved. So we think of something like this just as important as John Hancock’s trunk that is in our collection or one of the first David Clark space suits that are in the collection.”

The exhibit will also include two replica trophies.

The museum said the display should be up by next week.
