WORCESTER, Mass. — Professional baseball players are always trying to get better.

For them, the offseason is a time to work on specific things and improve themselves.

The Worcester Red Sox are no different. As the players gathered a couple days before the season opener, they reflected on what they worked on this offseason to become a better player.

"I was focusing on getting more depth on the sinker, kind of more splitter like, more swing and miss on it," said Pitcher Joe Jacques. "I increased the spin on the slider, a little more horizontal movement. My big thing is landing that in the zone. So that will help. [Also] started mixing in a cutter in spring training and that's coming along as well."

"Specifically offensively a little bit of my bat speed," said infielder Nick Sogard. "My bat path as well, just trying to add a lot of strength and explosiveness, so pretty much that specifically."

"I worked on every little part of my game," said infielder David Hamilton. "Fielding, hitting, running, yeah just trying to get better in every way."

Hamilton is currently up with the Boston Red Sox.  The Worcester Red Sox are on the road until next Tuesday.
