STURBRIDGE, Mass. - It seems pickleball is all the rage these days, from young kids to senior citizens, everyone is grabbing a racket and playing. Spectrum News 1 Sports Director Kevin Shea headed down to Sturbridge, Mass to a new indoor pickleball-only facility called PickleballU, where he learned about the sport from co-owner Scott Sargent, and then took up a racket for some one-on-one play.

"Yeah pickleball since COVID has exploded all over the place," said Sargent. "It's grown to 36 million people playing pickleball throughout the country now. It's been the fastest-growing sport in the United States for the last three years in a row which has never happened before. Oh, it's a great game, it's a lifetime sport, so you can play, you can start at 7 years old and you can play 'till you're 80. And it's really easy to pick up."

PickleballU is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Anyone can walk in for open play or you can reserve a court. They also have lessons where they provide the equipment (racket). For more information, go to pickleballU.com.
