WORCESTER, Mass. – Holy Cross hockey star Liam McLinskey has been named a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, which is given to the top college hockey player in the country.
McLinskey is the first player in program history to be named a top 10 finalist for the Hobey Baker. The junior led Holy Cross in scoring this year with 47 points on 19 goals and 28 assists.
McLinskey says he is humbled by the recognition.
"Yeah, I mean, it's truly an honor. I mean, to be named one of the top 10 players in college hockey this year is really cool," McLinskey said.
"It's not something I really expected going into the year, but just very excited. Of course, growing up watching college hockey and you see guys going into the NHL that have won the Hobey Baker. So I obviously knew what it was, definitely something I dreamed about, but never really thought it would happen."
