WORCESTER, Mass. – It's Pi Day and Worcester's Table Talk Pies is celebrating the mathematics holiday with some sweet donations.
The newly opened "Pie Store" at Table Talk Pies will be open today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for any last-minute pickups for Pi Day.
Store manager Caitlin Enck said Table Talk's two bggest holidays are Pi Day and Thanksgiving.
Between their store on Green Street and the factory on Gardner Street, Table Talk Pies plans on donating and distributing about 73,000 pies to local schools and non-profits.
"It's probably one of our favorite traditions and we're so excited and so happy to be featured in so many schools and businesses," Enck said. "I wear the "pie box" (costume), so I mean, obviously I love Table Talk, but also we're really excited to be part of the community. We're really excited to be back down on this side of Canal Street. And I guess my final thoughts are Happy Pi Day."
Pi Day itself, and celebrating the mathematical constant, dates back to 1988.
This year is special for the Worcester pie makers as it marks 100 years since Table Talk Pies first opened.
