WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester Red Sox Manager Chad Tracy is down at spring training with the Boston Red Sox, as is Worcester native and Red Sox Director of Player Development Brian Abraham. The two talk daily.
And as it gets closer to the start of the WooSox season, conversations will get more specific about players and how they see them being used and where for their future in the major leagues.
"I mean I talk to Abes every day," said Tracy. "He's right outside the coaches room, I mean I see him, I talk to him every day. Right now at this juncture we have not got into the weeds of those conversations as you just mentioned. As we move along in camp as we get into March, those conversations start to creep up as the picture starts to come together. I will have meetings with Abes and others prior to the start of the season, sitting in a room going over what our vision is of these players."
Also making news in the Worcester Red Sox camp, the team has announced the inaugural class of the WooSox Hall of Fame:
- Larry Lucchino, current chairman of the Worcester Red Sox, former owner of the club and former president and CEO of the Boston Red Sox
- Ed Augustus, former city manager of Worcester, now the secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities
- Rich Gedman, the former Red Sox catcher who is in his 10th year as the hitting coach for the Red Sox's AAA affiliate
