WORCESTER, Mass. — In the wake of tragedy, Worcester's interim police chief is speaking out against violence in the city. Paul Saucier said this incident isn't who Worcester is and he has strong words for offenders.
"Most of these shooting incidents are from repeat offenders,” said Saucier. “If you look at who is shooting people, it's always the same people and they need to be put in prison. There's no doubt about it, all our violence stems from the same people and its time it stops. We have to put these guys away. It's nice to give someone another opportunity, but if you're out there shooting people, you need to be in jail."
Chief Saucier said the loss of a mother and daughter is devastating for the community. Many of the officers investigating the case have children of their own and the department is offering counseling services for all of its officers.
