WORCESTER, Mass. - Warmer weather will be here before we know it, and local summer camps are looking to help families keep their kids active when school lets out for the year.
The Central Mass Summer Camp Expo was held Saturday at the Bancroft School Field House. It featured more than 40 camps specializing in sports, science, art, music and more.
With so many options out there, those who helped organize the event said it was important to put all these camps under one roof for the day.
"It’s a great opportunity to do one-stop shopping," said Fran Cournoyer. "You get to meet with the camp representatives, ask them about their offerings, and it's free, fun and informative. And we have lots of kids activities going on, too."
Local Mass Audubon summer camps at Broad Meadow Brook in Worcester or Wachusett Meadow offer nature-focused adventures for kids who may not otherwise get out into the woods much over the summer.
"I think getting outside in nature helps kids get away from their technology, which they’re so addicted to right now," said Elizabeth Broughton. "It also helps form friendships they don’t necessarily get to find in school, and being out in nature is naturally relaxing for everybody."
If you missed out on the expo, you can find all the information you need to get your kids registered on the Worcester Central Kids Calendar website.
