WORCESTER, Mass. - The Boston Red Sox are in the middle of spring training in Florida, and Worcester Red Sox Manager Chad Tracy is one of the coaches helping out every day.
Tracy is doing whatever is necessary and whatever is needed to support Alex Cora and the Boston staff.
"I'm blessed in this situation because I know Alex, our big league manager, well, not just me, but he treats everyone so well and he wants to hear from you," Tracy said. "So, I view myself as support staff, as I show up, I grab the schedule and check in with Tek on the catching side and Foxy on the infield side.
"I can help in a lot of areas, where do you need me, where do I need to bring my fungo to so I can hit ground balls, all that. So, that's the big job, right? And it's great dealing with a staff that wants to know what you think and asking a lot of questions."
The Worcester Red Sox open the season on the road in late March, and heir first home game at Polar Park is April 2 vs. Buffalo.
