WORCESTER, Mass. - Massachusetts residents can cast their ballots in-person for the presidential primaries starting this weekend.
Saturday is the first day of early voting in communities statewide.
In Worcester, the city clerk's office prepared the Worcester Public Library ahead of what they hope will be a busy week. The library is the only site for in-person early voting in the city.
The city clerk’s office says it typically costs $2,500 a day to run this operation. In addition to in-person voting, they've sent more than 11,000 mail-in ballots to voters.
"There are three party ballots for this primary – Republican, Democrat and Libertarian,” said assistant city clerk Clare Robbins. “So, if you're a registered voter in the Republican, Democrat or Libertarian party, you will be voting with one of those ballots. But, if you're an unenrolled voter, or commonly referred to as an independent voter, you can select any of those three party ballots."
Saturday is also the last day to register to vote for the state presidential primaries on March 5. Early in-person voting for the primary will run through next Friday, March 1.
