WORCESTER, Mass. - Many students in the area are soaking up some wintertime fun this week for February vacation.

Fran Cournoyer, founder of Worcester Central Kids Calendar, said there's no lack of activities happening. As a mom and grandmother, she said the website is meant to streamline the process of searching for events.

Whether you're looking to bundle up before the slopes or stay inside to learn something new, Cournoyer said central Massachusetts has a lot to offer families looking to enjoy time outside of the classroom.

“The EcoTarium is having their Prehistoric Planet days, Worcester Art Museum is having some wonderful workshops," Cournoyer said. "My granddaughter and her friends are doing that. You have the American Heritage Museum, that’s really cool, they have some special events going on.

"There is just so much happening. Old Sturbridge Village, their maple days start on Friday. That's a lot of fun for families to see the maple surgaring process."

Cournoyer recommends checking online before an event to avoid showing up with a car full of kids only to learn the event has been sold out.
