Great Barrington Select Board member Leigh Davis is running for the 3^rd Berkshire District seat in the Massachusetts House of Representatives.

Longtime state Rep. Smitty Pignatelli currently represents the district and announced last week he is not running again.

Davis moved from Ireland to Great Barrington in 2009. She began her career in local politics on the Great Barrington Finance Committee in 2015, and was elected to the Select Board in 2019.

"One of my priorities would be looking at housing and creating housing, preserving housing, really addressing the challenges of development and the problems that renters are facing,” Davis said. “The housing crisis is real and it's impacting everyone.

“But the second priority I would like to address, this is just raising our voice and you know really working with the delegation to make sure that we get our fair share, that the state listens to us in western Mass."

Pignatelli has served 11 terms after being first elected to the House in 2002.
