WORCESTER, Mass. - Worcester DPW Commissioner Jay Fink said while there doesn't appear to be more potholes in the roads than last winter, they do appear to be deeper.

Fink said said the mild winter and amount of traffic on the street has lead to the increased depth and size of the potholes.

The city has received hundreds of requests to fill potholes since December. Fink recommends people use the city's 311 app to send in a request to fill them.

"We've had crews, multiple crews out there every day filling the potholes,” Fink said. “I would encourage anybody that has a pothole, sees a pothole, hits a pothole, get it on the app so it's on our list so crews can respond to it. We do have crews that are looking at potholes, but there's so many out there right now that the best thing to do is get it on the list so we know it gets addressed."

As of Monday afternoon, the city said all December requests have been closed and more than 300 of the 347 requests in January have also been closed. All 56 requests made this month are still open.
