State Rep. David Muradian, R-9th Worcester District, says the migrant situation is affecting everyone, and both the federal and state government need to do more to help.

Muradian said it's disappointing to see budget cuts to things like public safety, schools and housing and then see funding go towards supporting migrants in the state.

Last month, Gov. Maura Healey announced a $56 billion budget plan, with $250 million for the migrant crisis.

"It starts with the federal government to get their act together and do something, but also in Massachusetts we need be cognizant of the issues too,” Muradian said. “To see our public safety officials not get an earmark, to see our schools not have necessary resources, towns not go up, that's troubling.

“We need to get everyone at the table, figure out what we need to do. It’s not a partisan problem, but it takes bipartisan solutions."

State Sen. Michael Moore, D-2nd Worcester District, said the state has a cap on the number of families in emergency shelters, and it's the local taxpayers paying for Congress' failure to pass immigration reform.
