WORCESTER, Mass. - Among the many names on the ballot in the New Hampshire presidential primary is Paul LaCava, a professor at Anna Maria College and Quinsigamond Community College.
LaCava said he registered to be on the ballot not to win and lead the country, but to teach his students that anyone can run for the Oval Office. He said many of his students thought only people who were wealthy or well-connected could run, but he’s been successful at proving them wrong.
“Piece of cake,” LaCava said. “The people up in New Hampshire, the secretary of state, Mr. Gardner, was wonderful. I explained to him the reason why, it is for my students, it is a learning moment and took that opportunity. I think they had to process it. At that age, you know, you’re learning the system and how to navigate your ideas, how to navigate your dreams, but it is an important lesson”
LaCava is spending Tuesday teaching and said he'll be happy if he gets just one vote to validate the experience.
