WORCESTER, Mass. – A car traveling down Franklin Street struck a Worcester Police officer and a pedestrian Tuesday morning due to slick conditions on the road, according to police.
The officer and pedestrian were standing next to a crash which happened shortly before when they were struck. The Worcester Police Department says the officer suffered minor injuries and the man suffered slightly more serious injuries.
The driver, Thomas Nguyen, described the conditions on the road as "bad" during his commute.
"Top of the hill, I skid, and I plow into two men standing – one is a policeman, and the other man is the man who was involved in a car accident before me,” Nguyen said. “He was in his car, he got hit by someone, so he went outside with a police officer they were both standing here, and I just skid into them.”
The officer and the man were both taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Worcester police say Nguyen is not facing any criminal charges.
