ADAMS, Mass. - The Town of Adams recently struck a development agreement and lease with a company, Shared Estates, for a campground at its up-and-coming Greylock Glen Ecovillage project.

The town will now be able to design and raise funds for the new campground that is going to be right behind the outdoor center building. The new campground agreement will give a year and a half for planning before construction gets underway.

They hope to have the final design by the fall.

“So, we're really excited about this," said town administrator Jay Green. "This shows the economic vitality of the town of Adams, it shows the economic vitality of the Berkshires, particularly in the outdoor recreation market. We're excited on a couple of fronts, but mostly because we have a potential $15 million private investment coming to the town."

The outdoor center is currently being built and will have a dining room and bar, a learning center with Mass Audobon, a museum and a pop-up retail shop. The plan is for the building to open this summer.
