Gov. Maura Healey announced this week state budget cuts totaling $375 million, and roughly $1.6 million will be from local fire departments, according to the Professional Firefighters of Massachusetts.

Worcester Firefighters Local 1009 President William Mosley said Worcester was set to receive nearly $350,000 dollars, and he's hoping there won't be any more cuts impacting firefighters.

"It’s disappointing, cuts to public safety are never good,” Mosley said. “We also understand that Governor Healey doesn’t take these cuts lately. I have the highest confidence our members will continue to provide the same level of high-quality service to our rapidly growing city.

“Local 1009, we’re going to look forward to opportunities to work with city leadership and department administration to minimize the impact of these cuts on our service."

Auburn, Northbridge and Southbridge are also among the departments impacted, along with the state's firefighter cancer screening program.
