WORCESTER, Mass. - The Worcester Academy boys basketball team looks a little bit different this year.
This is a young group and, unlike in years past, this is not a team that rolls out five players headed for Division 1 college basketball to start a game. They have one such player this year - guard Kayvaun Mulready who is going to Georgetown.
Instead, the Hilltoppers are learning to focus on the little things in order to win and defend their NEPSAC championship.
"The keys to make sure we win and defend our title, we just have to stay together, stay positive," Mulready said. "You know, basketball is a game of runs, and the season especially - there are ups and downs. As long as we stay straight, we don't go too high or too low, we'll be fine, we'll make it there."
"It's a whole new team this year, a lot of new guys, a whole new team chemistry," said guard Jake Blackburn. "I think the first four games we struggled, we learned a lot from there. Now we're starting to pick it up, starting to play better. I think we can still get better even though we're winning recently. We're working on building team chemistry."
Worcester Academy's next home game is Sunday night against MacDuffie at 6:30 p.m.
