WORCESTER, Mass. – Habitat for Humanity MetroWest/Greater Worcester has received more than $17,000 in community donations since about $9,000 worth of tools was stolen from a Worcester work site earlier this month.

The nonprofit has also received new and used tools to replace the equipment that was taken when someone broke two locks off a trailer to steal their power tools.

Executive director Debbie Maruca Hoak said every build they do requires several tools, and the money and items they received will help build up a fund for future developments.

“What Habitat does is we reach out to help people who are in need and we bring resources together to help those in need,” she said. “And when the tables are turned in and we were actually the ones who needed the support, the amount of community response has been just completely humbling

Maruca Hoak said their largest donation was $9,000 from Country Bank.
