WORCESTER, Mass. – Demonstrators in Worcester Friday called on Rep. Jim McGovern to support a permanent cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war.
Two trucks with digital ads traveled across Massachusetts and Connecticut Friday, displaying images of Palestinian civilians suffering.
The group behind the trucks is urging people to stand up against growing incidents of antisemitism and Islamophobia. The trucks stopped at the offices of U.S. lawmakers who have not yet called for a permanent cease-fire.
"We're here to say a huge thank you to the representative, because he was one of the first voices calling for a cease-fire,” said community organizer Claire Schaeffer-Duffy. “We want him to use his leadership now to push all of his colleagues in the state to demand a permanent cease-fire. And also, as the Biden administration puts forth its request for $14 billion in additional new military aid to Israel, to not sanction that. That would not serve the purposes of anyone."
The trucks also visited Rep. Richard Neal's office in Springfield. Rep. McGovern’s office did not respond to a request for comment.
