Diamond Baseball Holdings has reached an agreement to buy the Worcester Red Sox, according to a report by the Boston Globe.

The price of the sale is not yet known, but the WooSox’s 35-year lease to play at Polar Park reportedly remains intact, according to the report.

The team has yet to respond to Spectrum News 1’s request for comment.

Earlier this month, the WooSox confirmed principal owner Larry Lucchino was open to selling to a local buyer. Lucchino is reportedly expected to stay on in his role as chairman.

The deal is pending the approval of Major League Baseball. Diamond Baseball Holdings already own 26 teams, including the single-A Salem Red Sox and AA Portland Sea Dogs.
