FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The West Boylston football team captured the Division 8 state title Wednesday with a 41-7 win over Carver at Gillette Stadium.

It’s the second straight state title for the Lions, who won the Division 7 championship last season before being bumped down to Division 8 for 2023.

Carver struck first, scoring an early touchdown to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. After that, it was all West Boylston, who scored 41 unanswered points to win in convincing fashion. The Lions dominated on the ground, racking up 359 yards rushing.

“It happened last year and you’d think it wouldn’t feel the same,” said linebacker Brian Smith. “It feels even better. Just going out here, all these people watching, it just means so much.”

“It feels amazing,” said quarterback Luke Foley. “I mean, this is my last game ever at West Boylston. It’s great to end on a Super Bowl championship. It’s really hard to get here and it’s great to see our hard work pay off.”

The win capped off an undefeated season for the Lions, who finished with a 13-0 record.
