Cities across central and western Massachusetts are getting into the holiday spirit this week.

Chicopee, Pittsfield and Worcester will all host their annual tree lighting ceremonies Friday.

The celebration in Chicopee begins at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall Flag Plaza. There will be plenty of performances and Mayor John Vieau will join the festivities, along with Santa.

Pittsfield's holiday tree lighting will be at 6 p.m. at Park Square. The Pittsfield High School chorus will perform a variety of carols and Santa and Mrs. Claus will also make an appearance.

The tree lighting in Worcester is set for 6 p.m. at the Worcester Common oval during the Festival of Lights. The event will feature ice skating, food vendors, community organizations and performances.
