WORCESTER, Mass. - A parade celebrating Italian heritage in the city of Worcester is making its return this weekend, and organizers say they are excited to share it with the city.

The parade is back for its second year with its new name, and has been reimagined under the direction of a committee and leadership that took charge last year.  Taking place this Sunday, the official Shrewsbury Street Italian Heritage Parade will welcome people of all backgrounds to come enjoy all the great things their culture has to offer.

Floats and people will march down Shrewsbury Street from one end to the other. Local leaders and organizers said they are excited to share Italian heritage with everyone.

"Well it's going to be a celebration of Italian-Americans or American-Italians, whatever way you want to look at it," said J.P. Ricciardi, this year's parade grand marshal. "It's a celebration of our heritage and our history here in Worcester. As you know, you're on Shrewsbury Street here and this has always been Little Italy for lack of a better word. And I think it's just a great job by the committee that they've resurrected this and trying to create amazing interest in the city of Worcester, not only for the Italian community but also for the community at-large."

The parade is this Sunday, Oct. 8 and kicks off at 12 p.m.
