WORCESTER, Mass. - Members of the Worcester Fire Department held a moment of silence Monday morning to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Firefighters pulled vehicles out of their bays at the Grove Street headquarters and stood at attention for a moment of silence at 9:59 a.m, the time the south tower collapsed.

Assistant Chief Adam Roche said 9/11 is one of the most significant moments in the history of firefighting.

"Obviously, the New York City fire department lost 343 members on this day," Roche said. "So, we like to pull the trucks out, pay our respects, and obviously always remember the sacrifices those members of the FDNY made. I'm sure everybody that was around in 2001 remembers where they were when this happened. So, this is just a way that as the Worcester Fire Department, we remember them."

Roche said stations throughout the city took part in the observance Monday morning.
