WORCESTER, Mass. - Joshua Rickman took over the WRTA earlier this summer and says he is now focused on bringing positive change for riders and staff.

Before taking over, Rickman served as an assistant general manager with CT Transit.

In this new position, he is inheriting some issues surrounding the WRTA. The union representing drivers says it has been fighting a war of attrition since the end of the pandemic and drivers have been dealing with tight schedules, low staffing and a hostile work environment. Users of the WRTA have also expressed frustration over delays.

Rickman said he is ready to serve the local community and is focused on making sure he cuts down on cancellations and delays.

“I’m very excited to be here for the WRTA,” Rickman said. “I think it’s a tremendous opportunity, and I really do take the rider experience seriously. I understand the concerns the public have about missed trips and that’s going to be a top priority of mine in the coming months.”

Rickman said he is working to make sure riders have the connections they need, passengers can rely on the services the WRTA provides and that the WRTA fully understands the needs of the region.
