WORCESTER, Mass. - Signing up for college can be difficult, especially if you have a job or children, Quinsigamond Community College looked to bridge that gap for people this weekend.
The college hosted its annual "Super Saturday" event on campus, which allows anyone to register for classes. QCC says it expands access to higher education, but also the services they offer on campus. People in attendance were able to apply for admission and financial aid, register for classes, and even tour the campus.
The school also provided information sessions to learn about the new MassReconnect program, which offers free tuition, fees and books to eligible Massachusetts residents aged 25 and older who have never received an associate or bachelor’s degree.
"It's opening up new doors for them, making it more competitive for the job market, and these are people from our community," said QCC's President Luis Pedraja. "So, we're helping our community and we're creating a trained workforce that's going to help our businesses do better and attracting businesses to the region."
Pedraja says health care, business, and manufacturing are among the popular courses this year.
