WORCESTER, Mass. – Kimberlee Henry is ready for her first school year as chief equity officer for the Worcester Public Schools.

It’s a new role in the district, replacing the chief diversity officer position. Henry said equity includes diversifying the workforce, but also focuses on making sure students and staff have a voice and have what they need to succeed.

Henry has been on the job for a few weeks, but has been in education for more than 20 years. She said she’s looking forward to making a positive impact in the city.

"I certainly want to establish ways to hear from students and families,” Henry said. “I hope that by the end of the year, I have really clear paths of communication with groups who have historically felt underserved and not heard. I hope that in year one, I am establishing relationships that are of mutual respect and trust."

Henry, who grew up in Springfield, said her experience as a student, a teacher and a school leader will help her in her new role.
