WORCESTER, Mass. - The newly revitalized Francis R. Carroll Plaza in downtown Worcester is now home to an outdoor concert series.

The Hanover Theatre hosted their second lunchtime concert Wednesday at the plaza in front of the theater, featuring the Odaiko New England drumming group. The event also included local favorites Coney Island and Uhlman's Ice Cream food trucks.

Theater president and CEO Troy Siebels said the plaza gives them a chance to connect with the community in a different way.

"What the outdoor stage does is gives us the opportunity to reach out to the community in a way we really couldn't before,” Siebels said. “We serve the audience that could buy a ticket and sit in the theater and watch a show, but we didn't really serve the audience right around us, so this is a way for us to broaden our scope a little bit."

The lunchtime concert series takes place every Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. through Aug. 30. Food trucks will be at the plaza every Wednesday, rain or shine. If it does rain, scheduled entertainers will perform the following Friday.

The theater is also hosting their 15th anniversary plaza party and season kick-off on Sept. 9.
