WORCESTER, Mass. - A new mural was unveiled Tuesday inside the Worcester Public Library's Frances Perkins branch.

The work of art was created by artist Christian Bachez. The Worcester native is a painter and muralist, specializing in bright and colorful scenes. The library said his focus is on children pursuing their passions and exploring the world around them, with a goal of depicting his art in a fun, playful way appropriate for all ages.

Bachez said his hope is to inspire young people and make art more accessible to all.

"I want adults to understand that supporting and funding youth programs like libraries, public libraries, is important," Bachez said. "I want the youth to feel excited to come to places like this, right? And want to pick up a book and read about Frances Perkins, for example."

Following the mural's unveiling, the library hosted a workshop called "Find Your Voice," hoping to help kids create artwork of their own.
