WORCESTER, Mass. - History will be made at Polar Park on Aug. 4 when the home of the Worcester Red Sox hosts its first outdoor boxing card.

The event will feature both professional and amateur bouts, as well as a tribute to the godfather of boxing in the city, Carlos Garcia. The night will be headlined by Kendrick Ball Jr., who is excited about fighting in his home city.

"I have a lot of pride fighting, especially my city," Ball Jr. said. "I feel like this is my city. I have a big following out here and I'm excited to be able to bring everybody out for this show. I know everybody's going to come and support us."

"We're lucky enough in the city to have a lot of guys between 160 lbs and 200 lbs, I can spar with anybody in that weight class," said amateur boxer Neil Sullivan. "So it's big I've been busy at work [as a Worcester police officer], but it's something. It's now or never."

Tickets are available at the Polar Park box office or at Camp Get Right on Millbrook Street in Worcester.
