WORCESTER, Mass. – Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll joined MassHealth and Healthcare for All in Worcester Thursday to talk about efforts to ensure people are covered.

From the beginning of the pandemic until March of this year, MassHealth had suspended eligibility redeterminations and maintained coverage for everyone who had it. Now, they’re reassessing all 2.4 million members, including more than 200,000 people in Worcester County.

A new MassHealth enrollment center opened near the RMV in Worcester’s Southwest Commons to help people get assistance with health insurance applications and renewals.

“We don’t want to lose numbers, we don’t want folks dropping off,” Driscoll said Thursday to workers at the center. “So that’s where all of you come in. Any help you can provide connecting us with populations who may not be checking what’s coming in the mail or may be too busy just living life that this thing might get missed or dropped, that’s what we’re really trying to avoid.”

After visiting the new center, Driscoll joined canvassers to knock on doors in a nearby neighborhood and share resources about the renewal process.
