WORCESTER, Mass. - Spectrum News 1 producer and 98.5 The Sports Hub radio personality Tim McKone is throwing out the first pitch at Friday's Worcester Red Sox game at Polar Park.
The consumate pro, McKone got in some practice this week ahead of his big night.
"There's definitely a happy medium," McKone said. "You don't want to lollipop it in, but you definitely don't want to bounce it. I'm not going to sleep [Thursday night] absolutely not. So I was wondering too, do I have to bring my own rosin? Because I'm going to be drenched in sweat from Thursday all the way until first pitch on Friday."
We showed video of McKone throwing to some of the WooSox coaches and they felt he has nothing to worrry about.
"The first thing I see is you're already practicing," said hitting coach Rich Gedman. "So just let your practice take over, don't think about it now. You've done the hard part, you know you can reach."
"That's outstanding," said manager Chad Tracy. "Very fluid, perfect, nice easy stroke. Don't try to overthrow it."
Friday's game is set to start at 6:45 p.m., so McKone's first pitch should happen around 6:30.
