NORTH GRAFTON, Mass. – Friday was a special day in North Grafton as nine-year-old Kyle Osterman received a new a tree house courtesy of Make-A-Wish.

The tree house, called "Kyle's Crib" was designed with input by Kyle himself. He's currently undergoing treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

Kyle was also surprised with a visit by Jeff Kinney, author of the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” book series, along with a piece of custom art created by Kinney.

“It’s just, it’s wow, just wow,” Kyle said. “I can’t say words to describe it. It’s too crazy.”

This was Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island's 10,000th wish. The organization in celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

“It’s very, very special,” said Stephanie Paglione, Kyle’s mom. “When Nate from Make-A-Wish told us that he was the 10,000th wish, we were going to have this big party and if we wanted to participate in it. I asked Kyle and of course he was super excited about it.

“He was like, ‘I thought I had the worst luck, but now I have the best luck,’ with the 10,000th wish. It’s just really, really amazing.”

The tree house was built by W.T. Rich Company of Natick and the furniture was donated Cardi’s Furniture.
