NORTHBRIDGE, Mass. - Northbridge High School students premiered their award-winning, zombie-themed public service announcement Wednesday morning at the school’s auditorium.

Peyton Brooks, Brenna Duda and Cramia Pozzi, under broadcast teacher Kevin Newton’s supervision, won MAPFRE Insurance and MassDOT's “Look Both Ways Road Safety PSA” contest.

As thousands of young drivers will hit the road for graduation celebrations or prom this spring, Massachusetts Secretary of Transportation Gina Fiandaca said their message is more important than ever.

“In Northbridge alone, more than one-third of the car crashes in 2023 were reported as young drivers,” Fiandaca said to the students at Wednesday’s premiere. “So the work that you're doing here is so meaningful and so impactful because you are literally setting the example by reaching out, by creating a creative video that sends a message that you value roadway safety.

The Northbridge High School zombie PSA was picked over six other finalists. The goal of the contest was to give students a voice and help young drivers drive safely.
