WORCESTER, Mass. – Tuesday was a busy day at the DCU Center in Worcester for MassHire's annual job fair.

More than 100 employers took part, and MassHire said by the end of the day, they saw more than 1,500 people looking for jobs.

While there are dozens of industries looking for workers, health care, manufacturing and transportation have the biggest demand, according to MassHire The event also attracted refugees and immigrants looking for work...

"I am brand new to Worcester,” said Mohammad Malek Sabr, who was at the fair looking for a job. “I came as a refugee from Afghanistan last year. Today, I am a job seeker. I am disabled and I am an athlete, so I am looking for suitable job that I can help and I can share my experience with others."

MassHire said job seekers still hold the power and employers must really advertise and make their positions attractive to job seekers.

"Job seekers are excited,” said MassHire operations manager Jibrael Younis. “They're excited to go back to work, they're excited to talk to employers. They're really looking for well-paying jobs that's going to give them flexibility as well, that's what we see from a lot of job seekers. Some folks still want that remote option if at all possible, but many of our job seekers are ready to get back out there and get upskilled as well."

MassHire is holding another large-scale job fair at Polar Park in September.
