WORCESTER, Mass. – Worcester resident Florence Scarpaci celebrated her 102nd birthday Wednesday.
Scarpaci received nearly 600 birthday cards and a visit from the Worcester Fire Department to celebrate the special day. She lives at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living in Worcester and said she’s feeling good for her age.
"I feel good as long as I can see straight,” Scarpaci said. “And I like all the activates and I like people."
Scarpaci said her secret to living a long life is not getting married. She received a key to the city when she turned 100 two years ago.
Scarpaci is also believed to be one of the oldest graduates from Worcester State University. She worked as an art teacher after graduating in 1943 from what was then known as the Worcester State Teachers College.
