GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. - Organizations in Berkshire County are working together to connect people who want to help others during this National Volunteer Week.

Berkshire United Way and the Nonprofit Center of the Berkshires hosted a Spring Volunteer Fair on Friday at Crissey Farm in Great Barrington.

Dozens of vendors greeted people interested in donating their time and talents.

While businesses in the Berkshires prepare for a busy tourist season this summer, Berkshire United Way President and CEO Tom Bernard said volunteers are vital to the success of nonprofits in any community.

"When we look at the summer in the Berkshires, we're excited about the outdoor recreation, we're excited about culture," Bernard said. "All of that succeeds because we have strong, stable communities, and our nonprofits are the backbone of building those communities up as strong as they can be. You can tell that the volunteers are eager to get involved and the people who are here, they love what they do. They love the service that they give, and they love their missions. And they love being part of Berkshire County. And I just I couldn't be more grateful."
