WORCESTER, Mass. - Columbus Clippers bench coach Greg DiCenzo was all smiles as he stepped out onto the field at Polar Park on Tuesday.

DiCenzo was the Head Coach of the Holy Cross baseball team from 2008-2019. He led the Crusaders to two Patriot League titles and and NCAA playoff appearance, where they won a postseason game for the first time in decades.

During his time at Holy Cross, DiCenzo was a two-time Patriot League Coach of the Year and a New England Division I college coach of the year. He is now in his fourth season coaching professional baseball, all with the Cleveland organization. After managing at the AA level last year, he likes his new role as the bench coach with the AAA club.

"Yeah I love it, it's a good group of guys, great organization," said DiCenzo. "Obviously, I was managing the last few years and had an opportunity to get a little more upper level experience, be a bench coach for a guy I absolutely love in our manager Andy Tracy, really happy about being here.

After four years away, DiCenzo always loves being able to come back to Worcester.

"I mean, this is home for me, I love it here," he said. "I love this city obviously I love the Cross, I still bleed purple. But at the end of the day, this is a business trip for us. And I think I've spent most of my time telling our guys where to go to eat and how to pronounce Worcester."

The Clippers are in town through Sunday playing a six-game series against the WooSox.
