NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - Northborough police arrested a man for custodial interference who they said was found traveling with a missing teenage boy.
The 15-year-old boy was reported missing from a group home in February. Police said it appears he'd been in contact with a family member, now identified as 54-year-old Michael Davis, and made plans to leave the area with them. Police said Davis does not have custody of the teen, nor has the authority to make decisions for him.
Northborough police chief William Lyver said it then turned into a case of two people who didn't want to be found.
"We did finally get a break and we contacted the Marshal Service and they helped us greatly with records and locating the pair,” Lyver said. “They were found in New York City after we had information they were on a bus heading up to New York City. We confirmed they were in Florida and then we discovered they were traveling north on a bus and the Marshal Services were waiting for them."
Davis waived rendition during an initial court appearance in New York City and will be returned to Massachusetts in the coming days.
